1963 Dodge Dart 270 Sedan. Belonging to Mr. Charles Abela, Club Membership No.: 009

The Dodge Dart 270 Sedan was born in the "mecca" of American cars industry, Detroit City in the United States of America in 1963.  Brought over to Malta by the American Embassy of Malta in 1965, where it served as the embassy transport vehicle.

The Dart is powered by a 225 cubic inch slant 6 cylinder engine (so named because it is an in-line six cylinder engine slanted 30 degrees) accompanied by a 3 speed Torqueflite push button automatic gearbox.  The so called "Mopar" engine delivers ample power to the limited slip rear axle.  The Slant 6 engine was introduced in late 1959 by Chrysler and has a legendary reputation for endurance, not unlike the flat head engines it replaced.  It has a hidden secret: good performance given the right conditions.

The car still retains the original engine and interior trim.  It is known that it is the only Dodge Dart 4 door Sedan on the island.
