Drag Racing on a National Level ….
.....is administered by the Malta Drag
Racing Association (MDRA) which today has around 500 active members
and thousands of enthusiasts who flock to the Hal Far Raceway
at each and every event.
Objectives
of the Malta Drag Racing Association
- To further improve interest in
motoring in general and drag racing in particular
- To provide members with information,
advice & assistance on matters connected with motoring
& biking
- To organise all types of drag racing competitions
and any other type of competitions in furtherance of the
interests of its members
- To help educate its members in all things related
to motoring, biking and motor sports by organising seminars,
master classes, film shows and the like
- To organise social events for its members thus
enhancing the spirit of friendship amongst its members
- To affiliate in National and International bodies
for the benefit of its members
- To organise National Drag Racing Championships.
These championships will be governed by regulations issued
by the Association from time to time.

Classification
Maltese Drag Racing regulations classify all competing vehicles
into competition classes mainly according to type of chassis/body
and engine capacity. Vehicles are thoroughly scrutineered and inspected
from time to time to ensure that everything is in order as per regulations.

Venue & Safety
What was originally an old open runway used by the British RAF is
now a 1/4 mile professional drag strip with 0.5 mile stoppage area
in Hal-Far, managed according to the highest standards of safety.
Events
MDRA caters for all racing enthusiasts being automobile, motorcycle
and truck:
5 NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP EVENTS, each
event based on a weekend for trucks, cars and motorbikes
5 RUN WHAT YOU BRING one-day events
where racing & non-racing drivers are allowed to practise their
cars
3 STREET CAR EVENTS organised on a weekend basis for street legal cars
Records
Can be acquired by doing 2 same elapsed times during the same event.(
1 E.T. minus 1% allowed)
1 E.T in qualifying and 1 E.T. in eliminations or 2 E.T. in eliminations
are accepted.
